The body of a missing Connecticut man was found in a Pound Ridge, N.Y. driveway on Saturday.

New York State Police and the Pound Ridge Police Department are asking for the public’s help after a dead man was found at 496 Long Ridge Road in Pound Ridge, N.Y.

After returning home, a homeowner said he found a dead body in his driveway next to a car, according to New York State Police. Police later realized the man was in a missing person bulletin in Connecticut.

Police said there were no signs of foul play at the scene.

KENT — State Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Kent on Friday night. A suspect is in custody, police said

Sgt. Eric Haglund, a State Police spokesman, said the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. at 381 Kent Cornwall Road, also known as Route 7. He said one person sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital.

Around 9:15 p.m., Haglund said the victim has died. No identifying information about the victim was released as of Saturday morning.

Haglund said state police troopers and detectives from the Western District Major Crime unit were on the scene.

Residents will have a chance to hear about the state budget at a forum on Dec. 11, led by state Sen. Toni Boucher and state Representatives Adam Dunsbyand and Will Duff.

The Republican legislators will host the event from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Redding Town Hall. They will discuss recent developments with the state budget and legislation that passed in 2017.

NEW FAIRFIELD — The Board of Education unanimously voted to elect Rick Regan to fill the vacant seat left by former Chairman Steve Burfeind’s resignation last month.

Regan, a Democrat and retired computer scientist, was one of seven candidates that ran for a full term on the board this year, but did not win one of the four empty seats on Election Day.

DANBURY — Metro-North’s Danbury branch line is now operating on schedule after officials reported up to an hour of delays earlier Saturday morning.

The delays, announced around 8:30 a.m. for southbound trains, were due to mechanical difficulties at the Redding Station, Metro-North officials said. By about 9:30 a.m., the delays were up to 90 minutes long.

Officials said the trains were back to operating on or close to schedule a little after 10:30 a.m.

NEW MILFORD — Hours after receiving the keys to Town Hall, Mayor Pete Bass called for a Town Council meeting Monday to deliberate whether his predecessor’s last-minute appointments to town boards are valid. Acting Town Attorney Matt Grimes, who was hired Friday, contends in a written opinion that a special meeting scheduled this week by outgoing Mayor David Gronbach was illegal because he did not identify any “exigent circumstances” that allowed him to call it with less than three days’ notice.

DANBURY - Two area men were arrested this week and charged with police for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy they met online.

Authorities said the youth came to police headquarters in July, accompanied by his parents, and reported that he had a sexual encounter with two men that he had met online through a dating application earlier that day.

Police said they were able to identify the two men as Jamal Jackson, 31, of Brookfield, and Timothy Connolly, 56, of New Milford. Jackson was arrested on Nov. 30 when he appeared in Superior Court in Danbury for an unrelated matter, police said.

REDDING - The police department has been removed from a lawsuit filed recently against Police Chief Doug Fuchs and other officers claiming their negligence may have led to the death of a suicide victim last year.

The suit filed by the family of Peter Valenti claims that Fuchs and other officers delayed medical professionals from checking on Valenti, who was found hanging in a shed on his property in April 2016, for more than 13 minutes. A paramedic located some cardiac activity when they finally checked Valenti but he died an hour later at Danbury Hospital.

DANBURY - State Police have reopened the left lane of Interstate 84 eastbound after a car rolled over into the median Wednesday.

Police said the car rolled over into the center median around 9 a.m. this morning near Exit 7. Crews with both the state Department of Transportation and the city’s fire department were on scene.

Officials reported that the driver of the vehicle was conscious and out of the car by the time emergency officials arrived. No major injuries were reported.

State Troopers and passing motorists made a daring rescue on Interstate 84 Monday while pulling a New York man from a burning car.

State Police said Trooper Dogali, of Troop G in Bridgeport, was driving home from a day of training at around 2:30 p.m. when he came upon the burning vehicle in the westbound shoulder near Exit 17. Two passerby’s were already on scene and attempting to remove the unidentified New York man from the car when the trooper arrived.

The trooper grabbed a fire extinguisher from his cruiser and attempted to douse the flames, which continued despite the effort.
