Lakemoor man stands trial on sex assault charges

Days after a 27-year-old Lakemoor man was accused of sexual assault, he told police that he heard the alleged victim say “no” and “stop” several times but continued to touch her in a sexual manner.

Kevin Graf told prosecutors Friday that he was “half asleep” when he admitted to police that “what [he] did was wrong.”

Graf, of the 500 block of Summer Road, Lakemoor, is charged with criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse and restraint.

 

McHenry County men charged in sports gambling conspiracy with Casey Urlacher

An Algonquin man and a Cary man were charged with conspiring to illegally conduct a multi-million dollar sports gambling business in the Chicago area, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

Todd Blanken, of Cary, assisted in the collection and paying out money in cash to gamblers recruited by Justin Hines, of Algonquin, and others.

One of these men was Casey Urlacher, brother of former Bears football linebacker Brian Urlacher.

An Algonquin man and a Cary man were charged with conspiring to illegally conduct a multi-million dollar sports gambling business in the Chicago area, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

Todd Blanken, of Cary, assisted in the collection and paying out money in cash to gamblers recruited by Justin Hines, of Algonquin, and others. Blanken, 43, and Hines, 40, were also charged with participating in the gambling conspiracy.

 

Mayor talks future downtown improvements during roundtable

Cary Mayor Mark Kownick highlighted some improvements the village wants to make to its downtown district at the annual Cary Business Roundtable on Thursday.

The village will be working on “really showcasing” its downtown district in the not-too-distant future Kownick said at the event, which is hosted by the Cary-Grove Chamber of Commerce.

This includes street improvements, as well as adding catenary intersection lighting,park benches and other enhancements to the area, Kownick said, such as bumping down the sidewalk
