When the United States entered World War II, the Warren Featherbone factory in Three Oaks, Michigan converted its production facilities from corsets to raincoats to outfit American troops heading overseas. Now, close to 80 years later, the family-owned distillery that now occupies that same building is again pivoting its production in the service of the greater good—this time by making hand sanitizer amidst a global pandemic. “It’s kind of like things are repeating themselves,” says Bill Welter, who founded Journeyman Distillery with his wife Johanna in 2010.
