ROGERSVILLE — An elderly Hawkins County woman was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon when she struck a restaurant building with her vehicle after apparently suffering a medical emergency. Barbara A. Bond, 76, of Rogersville, told police the last thing she remembered was stopping at the U-Save Pharmacy in the Route 66 Plaza to pick up her medicine. At 12:03 p.m., the Rogersville Fire Department, police, and Hawkins County EMS were dispatched to a vehicle versus building crash at the Asian Cuisine Restaurant in the Route 66 Plaza. Upon their arrival, first responders reportedly found a 2010 Nissan Cube driven by Bond had crashed into the side of the building, causing substantial damage to the concrete block structure. Bond stated that she must have “blacked out” and that she didn’t remember hitting the building.
