There are more new and improved community gardens popping up on unused park grounds, schoolyards and public spaces every year in Aurora. That’s because a few years ago, the city began a gardening supplies grant program to support the creation and expansion of community gardens. In the program, Aurora can give up to $300 to residents who need digging and planting tools to get going. Many of the gardens in Aurora are run and managed by Denver Urban Gardens, a nonprofit community garden support network that manages or helps fund more than 135 gardens all over the state.
