Construction begins for 7-story parking deck in front of Royal Oak library

The parking lot in front of Royal Oak's Public Library closed this week and preliminary construction began Wednesday to build a seven-story parking deck there as part of city's $58 million Civic Center project.The deck is being built on a former surface parking next the lot in front of City Hall, where work began last month to build a six-story office building being constructed by private developer Ron Boji of Central Park Development Group,Construction costs for the new deck are about $15.

Nearly $830,000 in state funding may be coming the county's way to support drug treatment and sobriety programs within the circuit and district courts.The four district courts, and 6th circuit court, have all applied for Fiscal Year 2019 Michigan Drug Court Grant Program grant funding through the State Court Administrative Office.

Historical preservation group proposes plan for Bailey House

Independence Township's Bailey House could become privately owned if a plan by a Clarkston historical preservation group moves forward. Preservation Clarkston, a public group that has formed with the current purpose to save the historic home, proposed a plan to Oakland County Parks and Recreation commissioners at the June 6 meeting that would swap the land the Bailey House is on for two parcels of land just south of the property.
