Rochester Hills will host several new events to engage people in the outdoors.The events are coordinated by the newly implemented Outdoor Engagement Division. "Being home to over a thousand acres of green space, we are in a great position to offer activities that will inspire the next generation to get outside and get active," said Mayor Bryan Barnett.

 

B Spot closes at Village of Rochester Hills

Four years after opening in the Village of Rochester Hills, the B Spot has closed. Notes on the door of the eatery on Friday morning announced the closure of the once-popular restaurant that emphasizes its burgers, brats and beers - as well as fabulous gourmet milkshakes, such as the vanilla bean, apple pie and bacon shake, with bourban as an optional add-on.

 

Firefighters use pet oxygen masks to treat cats after Royal Oak fire

Royal Oak firefighters treated three cats with pet oxygen masks while responding to a fire Thursday morning in Royal Oak. According to a post on the Royal Oak Fire Department Facebook page, firefighters responded at 9:22 a.m. on July 5 to a basement fire in the 400 block of Wellesley.

South Boulevard culvert replacement to prompt road closure

The Road Commission for Oakland County will close South Boulevard between Coolidge Highway and Adams Road in Troy and Rochester Hills for the Borden Drain culvert replacement. The project will begin July 16. The culvert is just west of Coolidge Highway. Once the culvert replacement is complete, on approximately July 21, the eastbound lanes of South Boulevard from Adams to Coolidge Road will remain closed for reconstruction for the duration of the project.

 

DTE Energy looks at Summit Place Mall for new service, storage facility

A proposal by DTE Energy could change the landscape of the long-shuttered Summit Place Mall in Waterford. At the township's most recent planning commission meeting, representatives from DTE Energy presented a proposal to build a new 50,000-square-foot service and regional storage facility at the old Sears location.

 

Oakland County district court judge recognized by state legislature

Oakland County 52-1 District Court Judge David Law was recently honored by the MichiganLegislature and Gov. Rick Snyder. Law, formerly the presiding judge of the 52nd District Court, was mentioned in a special tribute signed by the governor and several state senators and representatives for being named president of the Oakland County District Judges Association.

 

2 arrested for Troy armed robbery

Troy police arrested two people for armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store, 3982 Crooks Road.A store employee told police two suspicious people entered the store at about 1:20 a.m. June 30, spending several minutes inside before exiting, as there were several other customers inside the business.

Lawrence Technological University in Southfield has canceled afternoon and evening classes Thursday, July 5, due to a power outage.As of Thursday afternoon, classes are scheduled to be held Friday.DTE Energy reported several hundred customers without power in southern Oakland County Thursday.

 

Intersection, road closures in Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills

The intersection of Hamlin Road and Adams Road in Auburn Hills will be closed until Thursday, July 19, according to the city of Auburn Hills. During those two weeks, construction crews will begin the removal and replacement of pavement at the intersection.
