TALLAHASSEE - Florida's ethics panel and former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll have a deal over allegations that she broke the state's ethics law.The Florida Commission on Ethics unanimously approved the deal on Friday with no comment. Carroll did not attend the meeting.She was forced to resign in March 2013 after state investigators questioned work she did for a company that was accused of running an illegal gambling ring.

FLAGLER BEACH — City officials are loosening the collar a bit on their original budget proposal but still hold out the possibility that there will be no tax increase this year.City commissioners voted unanimously to set a tentative budget Thursday with a tax rate of $4.90 per $1,000 of taxable value. This represents a 19-cent increase over the original proposal.In the original presentation July 7, there was no tax increase for property owners.

The Florida State Commission on Ethics voted 6-1 to adopt the recommendation that Flagler County Sheriff Jim Manfre violated three ethics laws.The vote came Friday morning "after discussion and debate," during a hearing in Tallahassee, said commission spokeswoman Kerrie Stillman.Manfre announced he will have a media conference at 1 p.m. today to discuss the matter.

DAYTONA BEACH - A man who police say threatened two women in a house with a BB gun is being sought by authorities.The suspect, Adriane Soles, 36, yelled at people inside a residence at 614 Cherry St., then pulled out a gun and said he would "blast all of you and I don't give a damn," a Daytona Beach charging affidavit states.Police said Soles - a registered sexual predator convicted of sexual assault and battery on a person under the age of 16, and unlawful sex with minors - pointed the weapon at two women the night of July 14.
