Homeowners ID'd as couple found dead in DeBary house

Autopsies conducted Friday confirmed the identities of the man and woman found dead inside a DeBary home Thursday, but how the couple died remains unknown, an official said.Additional testing will be required to confirm the causes of death for Richard and Lenora Powers, Volusia County sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said.Property records show Richard Powers, 81, and Lenora Powers, 72, owned their home at 42 Jasmine Drive.The investigation into the Powerses' deaths began Thursday afternoon when the couple's daughter in South Florida asked a family friend, Gary Bartlett, to check on her parent

Accused squatters in Palm Coast face burglary charges

BUNNELL — A trio of accused squatters were arrested Wednesday after Flagler County sheriff's deputies found them living in a Palm Coast house that was supposed to be vacant.Charisma Borgmann, 19, and Stephanie Reid, 19, both of Palm Coast, were charged with burglary in connection with the incident. A 17-year-old Palm Coast girl also faces charges stemming from the arrest. Her name is being withheld because of her age.Records show Borgmann remained jailed Friday while Reid had been released.

 

Raid of Palm Coast home yields pot, pills, 2 arrests

Two men face drug charges after special agents raided a home in Palm Coast’s P-section on Wednesday.Wilbert Hough Jr., 30, and Twhan Terrique Johnson, 26, both of 1 Pythian Place, were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hough was also booked on a probation violation and a count of possession of MDMA Ecstasy. Johnson was charged with an added count of possession of marijuana under 20 grams.Records show Hough remained jailed on $4,500 bail Friday morning.

Public meetings coming on Volusia homeless shelter plans

DAYTONA BEACH -- A group of local leaders that's been huddling since the beginning of the year to come up with a plan to create a new homeless shelter is ready for its ideas to be presented at a series of public meetings next month.At a meeting at Daytona Beach City Hall this morning, the group decided it's time to share details of the plan at three public meetings that will be held in about two or three weeks in different areas of Volusia County.
