Cops: Danbury man harassed driver, tried to swallow crack

DANBURY — An Eden Drive resident is being held on a $10,000 bond after authorities said he harassed another driver for more than an hour Sunday and later tried to swallow a bag of crack cocaine in front of police officers.

Walker was charged with driving with intent to harass, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics in a prohibited place, possession of drug paraphernalia, breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief.

 

Car vs two motorcycles crash sends 4 to hospital

Anthony Reyes, of Stonefield Drive, Waterbury was located by State Police Sunday night after fleeing the scene of the crash, police said.

Two men and two women were thrown from the bikes and taken to Danbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

 

New Milford woman to serve one year in heroin death arrest

NEW MILFORD — State’s Attorney David Shepack gave special consideration to the sentencing of a 24-year-old New Milford woman who was charged with accessory to sale of heroin.

Tamburri entered a plea agreement with Shepack’s office in December pleading guilty to charges related to the heroin overdose death of her friend Robin Thibodeau.

 

Middle school student ‘critical’ after Danbury crash

Police say a Danbury middle school student is in critical condition after he was struck by a car Friday afternoon while crossing North Street after exiting the school bus.

The West Side Middle School student got off the bus on Madison Avenue and walked northbound on North Street, police said.

 

Dead woman’s SS number used to collect state unemployment

Guillermo Salazar, 38, of New Britian, was arrested Friday on with one count each of larceny in the first degree by defrauding a public community and unemployment compensation fraud.

The arrest follows an investigation by the Connecticut Department of Labor, the U.S. Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the New Britain Police Department.

Betzabet Sanchez, 25, of Danbury was processed and charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor, possession of over 1/2 ounce of a controlled substance, possession within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school.

 

New Milford police warn of power scam

NEW MILFORD — Scammers claiming to work for a utility company are calling New Milford residents, demanding immediate payment and threatening to shut off their electricity, authorities said this week. Thieves representing themselves as Eversource employees tell residents that they have an outstanding balance with the utility company and must wire the payment through MoneyGram the same day, police said.

 

Cops: Danbury drunk driver hits two cars, flees to restaurant

Police said Villa left the crash site and ran into Papaya Mexican Grill, 54 Liberty St., where he sat at a table and began to call someone on his cell phone. Villa was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, evading responsibility, interfering with the duties of a police officer and driving with a suspended license.

 

Father, son accused of shooting geese too close to Walmart

The New Milford residents were charged with third-degree criminal trespass and hunting/carrying a loaded firearm within 500 feet of an occupied building. Dennis Schain, a spokesman for the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, said the department’s Environmental Conservation Police had been received several reports that people were hunting geese too close to the store.
