Connecticut Green Bank is encouraging homeowners to take on energy efficiency projects with new low-rate financing options on home energy improvement loans.

The bank, in association with Energize CT, is offering a .99 percent interest rate on energy improvement loans for both bundle projects and single measure promotions.

Diehl was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and with a violation of Leandra’s Law, which makes driving while intoxicated a felony if there is a passenger under the age of 16 in the car.

 

Danbury prosecutors aim to discredit PTSD defense

DANBURY -Prosecutors attempted to discredit Garfield Sanderson’s claims on Thursday that he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder when he shot and killed Jeiel Kingston outside a White Street nightclub.

Courtney finished presenting his case after showing a video he said shows Kingston running across the street before he was shot, which conflicts with previous witness statements that he was standing on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred.

Time is of the essence, however, as a mistrial may be called unless the trial is completed by June 1, when at least two jurors will no lo

 

Wife of sportcaster Chris Berman, 1 other killed in Woodbury crash

The wife of ESPN sportscaster Chris Berman and an another driver were killed in a crash on Route 64 in Woodbury Tuesday afternoon.

According to the accident report, Bertulis was traveling about 100 feet east of Tuttle Road, when it was struck in the rear by Berman’s 2003 Lexus SC 430 coupe.

Following the intial contact between both vehicles, Bertulis’ 2003 Ford Escape continued east, veering off the road and down a small embankment before overturning in a body of water.

The Route 64 accident happened about two miles east of the entrance to the landmark Quassy amusement park.

 

Police: Danbury man killed dog during domestic dispute

A Danbury man assaulted and killed a dog after a physical altercation with his spouse Thursday evening, police said. DeSouza was found at a friend’s residence shortly after and charged with second-degree strangulation, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, cruelty to animals and two counts of risk of injury to a child.

 

State Police arrest suspect in New Fairfield death

State Police established Flood as a person of interest “during the processing of the residence and the course of this investigation,” and had checked several addresses before tracking him down.

State police have not labled the woman’s death as a homicide, but a Major Crime Squad investigation was initiated because “the manner in which she was found and injuries noted to her body were suspicious in nature.”

“A white female was located inside the residence, deceased,” according to a state police report.

Bethel nabs dozens of distracted drivers

The effort also resulted in three infractions for distracted driving, 34 infractions for texting while driving, one drug arrest and three motorists who police said where found to be driving under a suspected license.

The effort is designed to provide a high visibility to efforts in enforcing the state’s distracted driving laws.

 

Redding student arrested on drug charges

REDDING - A student at Joel Barlow High School was arrested on drug charges recently after security noticed a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle.

An investigation by both Redding and Easton police is ongoing connected to the additional drug seizure, Fuchs said, adding that additional arrests are possible.

 

Danbury man resists arrest on drug charges

Police said Lee Alexander, was charged Saturday with possession of a controlled substance and interfering with police.

While two other males at the home cooperated with police officers, Alexander refused commands and swallowed what officers believed was an illegal drug, authorities said.
