Danbury Prosecutors Aim To Discredit Ptsd Defense

DANBURY -Prosecutors attempted to discredit Garfield Sanderson’s claims on Thursday that he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder when he shot and killed Jeiel Kingston outside a White Street nightclub. Courtney finished presenting his case after showing a video he said shows Kingston running across the street before he was shot, which conflicts with previous witness statements that he was standing on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred. Time is of the essence, however, as a mistrial may be called unless the trial is completed by June 1, when at least two jurors will no longer be available due to previous commitments including military service. Because the trial has been dragging on since January, several jurors with scheduling conflicts have already been removed from the case, leaving only one alternate and a dozen regular jurors left to decide Sanderson’s fate.
