Danbury police looking for information on abandoned baby

When officers arrived, they were told to go behind Zaytuna Grocery Store at 397 Main Street, where they found a newborn boy wrapped in several pieces of women’s clothing, according to a press release from Danbury Police. The Danbury Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the case and trying to find the baby’s mother.

Crews paving Whittlesey Drive in Bethel

BETHEL - Motorists are being asked to avoid Whittlesey Drive today as construction crews pave the area.

“The plan is to have the paving completed in one day,” said an official from the town’s public works department.

 

Newtown searching for missing woman

Lt. Aaron Bahamonde, a spokesman for the department, said Monday that Jessica Guay, 36, of Alpine Drive has been reported missing since last Thursday when she left to pick something up at the local drug store but never returned.

Bahamonde said police have been attempting to contact Guay through her cell phone, but the device appears to be either turned off or not functioning at this time.

Police said Michael Wright, 41, of Prince Street, was arrested on a number of charges including posession of a controlled substance with an intent to sell was taken into custody last week with the assistance of the regional SWAT team and federal law enforcement officials.

 

Danbury man charged with enticing minor

DANBURY - A man who authorities said was wanted after making sexual advances to a 15-year-old girl turned himself in to police recently.

Richard Sherwood, 50, was charged with risk of injury to a minor and and permitting a minor to illegally possess liquor.

Police said the department’s special victim’s unit received a complaint that Sherwood had provided alcohol to the girl before making sexual advances toward her.

Sherwood was released on a $5,000 bond.

Police release names in fatal Danbury crash

Rothenbucher was in the car with Akeem Morris, 18, near the intersection of Mansfield Street and Fleetwood Avenue when a Bethel police officer attempted to stop the car around 1:30 a.m.

Bethel and Danbury fire departments worked to remove the driver and passenger from the car for over 30 minutes before sending both men to Danbury Hospital.
