Special Olympics Regional Invitational Track and Field Meet returns to Plymouth-Whitemarsh

PLYMOUTH >> Well over 100 Special Olympics athletes will run, jump or heave their way to some well-earned medals at the Special Olympics Regional Invitational Track and Field Meet on Saturday at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.All they need is a little cooperation from the weather.Scott Otterbein, the Special Olympics Montgomery County manager, has been keeping a watchful eye on the forecast all week.

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Bucky

2-year-old male Mixed Breed Say hello to Bucky, a sweet little guy who is looking for a big place in someone's life. He is a small boy, weighing under 15 pounds, and he has the cutest little round face. Bucky was rescued by Providence Animal Center from an overcrowded shelter. He's now at Providence's Adoption Center, in Media, where he is now waiting to be adopted.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Emmett

9-year-old male Domestic Shorthair Emmett is a happy older gentleman waiting for someone to turn his homelessness into a distant memory. Emmett is all-black with pretty, glowing green eyes. He was rescued from a local overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center, in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where is enjoying a cat nap until forever comes along.

 

PLDP Pet of the Week: Dolly

Dolly is as sweet as they come. She loves people and can be placed with children over the age of 5 (give or take). Dolly likes to kiss the dog friendly kitty, and does well with male dogs but not too good with other female dogs. She is spunky at 10 years old and weighs 5.5 pounds. Her family of 9 years had to surrender her because they could no longer care for her.

 

Francisvale Pet of the Week: Pancake

One of the joys of a Saturday morning can be that full stack of pancakes swimming in syrup. But who needs to deal with those troublesome calories when you can get all the sweetness in the world wrapped up in one little ten pound kitty. So, our two-and-a-half old Pancake might just be the ticket you're looking for in your life.

Democrats win Ward 1 and Ward 7 Board of Commissioners seats in Radnor

RADNOR >> In both Ward 1 and Ward 7 the Democratic candidates for commissioner won handily, according to unofficial results Tuesday night.Ward 7 Commissioner Sean Farhy, a small business owner and father of two, who was appointed as interim commissioner bested Republican challenger Jane Galli by 535 to 256, in unofficial numbers that included absentee ballots.
