Great Lakes Mall, Laketran taking part in Back to School Bash

The public is asked to take part in the "Stuff the Bus" effort in support of the sixth annual Back to School Bash in Lake County. Great Lakes Mall is teaming up with Laketran to collect much-needed school supplies in addition to new or gently used children's clothing and books for infants and children ages 5-18.

Lake County Genealogical Society plans picnic

The Lake County Genealogical Society will host the annual pot luck picnic meeting July 26, at Lake Erie Bluffs, 3301 Lane Road in Perry Township. The group will meet in the pavilion at 5:30 p.m. Those attending should bring a dish to share, and plates and silverware while tea and lemonade will be provided.

 

Arrest made in murder of Willoughby man

Willoughby police have arrested two people following a murder at an Arlington Drive home. Herbert M. Beard Jr., 25, of Cleveland has been charged with the murder of 58-year-old Sam Pizzuto.

Decision on prom attendance by freshmen at Perry High will be made in fall

A decision on whether to continue allowing freshmen to attend the Perry High School prom won't be made until fall.That announcement came at the Perry School Board meeting on July 17. It marked the first time that the panel had gathered since June 26, when a discussion and debate took place on the issue of allowing freshmen to attend the Perry High School prom, if they are invited by a senior or junior class member.
