Drake Park road construction; Closed intersection causes delays, detours, headaches

Motorists who forgot that the intersection of Northwest Riverside Boulevard and Northwest Tumalo Avenue was closed for construction weren't alone Tuesday afternoon. Traffic piled up along the detour route, causing a few delays. Above, a Taylor Northwest crew works on the construction at the corner of Bend's Drake Park. The intersection will be closed through Oct.

 

Redmond officer under investigation; Video: Witness captures the incident on camera

Bend Police are investigating a Redmond reserve police officer who allegedly hit a man with the handle of a hatchet on Thursday.Bend Police spokesman Lt. Chris Carney confirmed that Brian Alvarez, a reserve police officer with the Redmond Police Department, is under investigation after police were dispatched to the Lava Lanes Bowling Center at 4 p.m.

 

Saturday’s Schwab concert canceled

The Los Lonely Boys and Los Lobos concert scheduled for Saturday at the Les Schwab Amphitheater has been canceled.According to a press release from the concert promoter, Los Lonely Boys’ frontman Henry Garza is still recovering from neck and back injuries sustained from a fall from a California stage in February.

Assault alleged at transient camp

A 31-year-old transient man is in the Deschutes County jail after police suspect that he attempted to rape a woman at a transient camp.According to Bend Police, just after 10:50 p. m. Saturday a 69-year-old transient man named Don Wichmann called 911 to report a rape in progress.

 

Reward offered in buck poaching

Oregon State Police fish and wildlife troopers are asking the public for help locating those responsible for shooting with an arrow a trophy buck.The animal was found seriously injured around 6:45 a. m. Monday on Southwest Duncan Lane near Reed Lane and the Bend Parkway.
