LONGVIEW — Southwest Washington Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler introduced a bill Wednesday to guarantee health care coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, regardless of Obamacare’s legal status.

 

Jiffy Lube purchases space for service facility in Battle Ground

BATTLE GROUND — Jiffy Lube bought a 23,235-square-foot pad in Scotton Landing for a new 4,400-square-foot full-service automotive service facility in Battle Ground.
Groundbreaking is projected for the spring. Jiffy Lube was represented by Alex Martinac and Tabitha Lovett of CBRE Inc. Scotton Landing was represented by Jeff Olson of Commercial Realty Advisors; Matt Martinez of HSM Washington; and Principal Properties LLC.

 

VW plans to build electric vehicles in Tennessee

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — German automaker Volkswagen said Monday its factory in Tennessee will be the focus of an $800 million investment in the company’s manufacturing of electric vehicles in North America, a sign of a growing push into the electric car market by European companies.

 

Amazon invests in Israeli semiconductor startup

SEATTLE — Amazon Web Services has invested in Wiliot Inc., an Israel and San Diego-based semiconductor company that focuses on wireless technology that tracks the location of goods during manufacturing.
Wiliot has closed a $30 million Series B funding round, with investment coming from AWS, Samsung Venture Investment Corp. and Avery Dennison Corp., the company said in a statement Monday.

 

SEC probes Boeing deal with China-linked project

CHICAGO — The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is looking into Boeing’s relationship with a California satellite-communications startup that allegedly is controlled by the Chinese government.
Global IP’s founders are suing a group of Chinese companies and individuals for allegedly taking control of their company through fraud.
A Boeing Co. spokesman couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
