Dueling lawsuits pit Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel against county board

A political power struggle between Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel and county commissioners may have to be settled in court.Hackel sued the Board of Commissioners in March after it appointed members to the new Macomb County Older Adult Advisory Committee created 11 months ago. Hackel contends that under the county charter, the board lacks the authority to form another panel, adding that it will create confusion and waste in county government.

Security officers sought for Armada Fair

The Armada Police Department is looking to hire individuals to work security during this year's Armada Fair, which is set to run from Aug. 13-19.Applications must be submitted by Aug. 10.Those who are hired must attend a brief meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 12.Applications and background waivers can be obtained at the Armada Police Department or Armada Village Offices, which are both located at 74274 Burk St.

 

Romeo Plank at Hall Road to close again Sunday

Residents who navigate Romeo Plank Road through Clinton and Macomb Townships may again need to find a new route as it will be closed at Hall Road (M-59) for 10 days.The closure will start at 6 a.m. Monday, July 23, and last until 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, according to a news release issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation on Monday.
