DECATUR, Ga. — Authorities say a former Clark Atlanta University student was raped and ransomed for Atlanta Falcons tickets.

DeKalb County warrants detail the case which allegedly started with a meeting on the college campus Aug. 29.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports 23-year-old Jaylan Wallace met the victim in a parking lot at the school and connected with her again at a home in the Lithonia area.

MACON, Ga. — Patrol cars converged on a Macon school after people heard gunshots, but it turns out the gunfire had come from a local resident who was shooting at a squirrel.

The Telegraph of Macon reports that authorities arrived at Heard Elementary School on Thursday morning to look for the source of the gunfire.

Investigators determined that a man across the street from the school had fired at a squirrel in his yard. It is unclear how many shots were fired.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying these suspects.
According to a news release, on Sept. 3 and Sept. 12, this woman and man entered the Sam’s Club at 220 Jefferson Davis Highway and opened a membership under a stolen identity. It was reported to investigators that the suspects made purchases exceeding $2,000 and $,1000, respectively, while using stolen identities.
These two are also suspected of making similar transaction in the Augusta and Columbia areas, police said.

A traffic accident involving several vehicles is snarling Washington Road morning commuters.
Richmond County dispatchers reported the accident at the Boy Scout Road -Washington Road intersection just before 7 a.m.
Several units ont the scene as well as an ambulance.
 

The widow of a retired Rich­mond County sheriff’s lieutenant is filing suit after waiting a year without receiving her survivor’s pension.
Linda Goodman said she’s struggled since her husband, Bill Goodman, died last October.
“Bill talked about it all the time – you don’t have anything to worry about, you’ll have Social Security, you’ll have these benefits, you’ll be taken care of,” she said. “We were together for 46 years and he was very protective of me.”

Five people have been charged in what is believed to be a 2014 gang-related slaying, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The investigation began about 5:30 a.m. Feb. 8, 2014, when a deputy investigating a vehicle stopped on eastbound Bobby Jones Expressway near Mike Padgett Highway found a dead man behind the wheel. The man, who had been shot, was identified as Gerald Kentral Clifford, 28, of Sixth Avenue, the sheriff’s office said.

Construction of a stadium for the Augusta GreenJackets in Project Jackson is proposed to start March 1 and be finished by April 1, 2018, according to the latest Master Development Agreement, which is on the agenda for Monday’s North Augusta City Council meeting.
Council is scheduled to consider second-reading approval of the agreement. Second readings include a public hearing. The agreement still can be amended by council and it’s not a done deal until all the partners have signed off on it.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two deaths in the Langley area.
Capt. Eric Abdullah said investigators are at a residence on Jackson Street, where the two bodies were found. Few details on the incident are immediately available.
“It does have a lot of indicators it’s a murder-suicide,” Abdullah said of the initial report.

STATESBORO, Ga. — A former Georgia Southern student who was a bouncer has been given a 20-year sentence for fatally beating a fellow student outside a bar.

News outlets report that Grant Spencer was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter Wednesday, following the August 2014 death of 18-year-old Michael Gatto.

Spencer was 20 years old and off-duty at Rude Rudy’s, a now-defunct Stateboro bar, when he assaulted Gatto, causing fatal head injuries.
