The exciting conclusion to the Masters gave CBS an early primetime bump, but even without that minor demo hike, the network still would have won Sunday thanks to "Undercover Boss," "The Amazing Race" and more.
A dismal performance from the second new episode of "Chaos" got CBS' Friday primetime off to a poor start and although "CSI: NY" and "Blue Bloods" were able to salvage an overall win, they didn't perform well enough to give the network the lead in the all-important young adult demos.
The spring's first hour-long "American Idol" results show was down, especially with young viewers, but it still coupled with a new episode of "Bones" to give FOX key Thursday night wins, holding off CBS, which also aired a full slate of originals.
"Secret Millionaire" wasn't a hit for FOX, but viewers welcomed the heart-tugging reality show to ABC on Sunday night, leading the network to a nightly win in the young adult demos and even outdrawing its CBS doppelganger "Undercover Boss."
There were big swings at 10 PM on a otherwise pretty uneventful Wednesday night. After declining for 2 consecutive weeks and last Wednesday logging CBS' lowest-rated original telecast in the hour in 7 years last week, the network's new light legal drama The Defenders (2.5/7, 9.9 million viewers overall) bounced back, up 14% from last week among adults 18-49 and winning its time slot in the demo for the first time.
After the disastrous "Lone Star" premiere left FOX miserable on Monday, a smashing Tuesday launch for "Glee" gave the network something to smile about. The second year sensation crushed CBS' reliable hit "NCIS" in all key young adult demos and carried FOX to a Tuesday win among young viewers, though "NCIS" still won handily overall and gave CBS a Tuesday in overall.
On a night of big finales on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX, it was the two-hour "Grey's Anatomy" season-ender that ruled. But once again, ABC's already cancelled "FlashForward" delivered low enough ratings to help CBS split the night.
TV News: 'Big Bang' tops night while 'Stars' leads in viewers -- ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" was Monday's most-watched program overall, but it was CBS (led by the night's top show, "The Big Bang Theory") and Fox (with the season finale of "House") that tied for demo supremacy.
Very minor declines aside, "Dancing with the Stars" maintained its place as Monday's most watched program by a wide margin. CBS, however, was able to rule the night in the key demographic thanks to "Big Bang Theory" and "CSI: Miami."
