‘R&B Divas’ breaks ratings records for TV One

Continuing to program reality shows paid off for TV One this week, as the debut of new docu-series “R&B Divas” became the most-watched orignial premiere in the network’s history. About 479,000 viewers tuned in for the premiere episode Monday at 10 p.m., the Silver Spring-based cable network announced. It’s a record for the relatively new-ish channel, which launched in 2004.

TLC to debut ‘Breaking Amish’

TLC is the latest network that’s looking to snag ratings with a show about young Amish and Mennonite people who leave their communities to explore life out of the fold.
“Breaking Amish” follows four Amish men and women and one Mennonite woman as they go give life a try — in the Big Apple! TLC has ordered nine one-hour episodes.

Discovery CEO: OWN on Track to Reach Profitability in Back Half of 2013

OWN, the cable network joint venture of Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications, "remains on track" to reach profitability in the back-half of 2013, Discovery CEO David Zaslav said Tuesday. Previously, the company had promised that the network would reach cash flow break-even some time during the second half of next year and then post profits.

Charlie Sheen sitcom poised for 90-episode pickup

Charlie Sheen says he's not insane anymore. Instead, these are good days for the "Anger Management" star, he declares, with his FX sitcom half-way through its initial 10-episode run and poised to get an order for 90 more. Sheen told reporters Saturday that the prospect of continuing is as "exciting as hell," and added cheerily, "I don't think 90's gonna be enough."

 

FX Likely to Order More of Sheen Comedy

The odds are "overwhelming" that FX Network will purchase an additional 90 episodes of Charlie Sheen's new comedy "Anger Management," the channel's president said Saturday.
