Tariffs Don’t Have To Make Economic Sense To Appeal To Trump Voters

Donald Trump loves tariffs. Last week, he told a Chicago audience that, “To me, the most beautiful word in the dictionary is ‘tariffs.’ It’s my favorite word.” For Trump, tariffs constitute the proudest achievement of his presidency and the engine of economic and social revival. “You see these empty, old, beautiful steel mills and factories that are empty and falling down,” Trump declared.
