Police say they are investigating the death of two children in midtown Savannah on Tuesday afternoon. Their mother has been detained for questioning after telling officers she killed the children. Officers were called to a residence near the intersection of Meding and West 59th street at 12:38 p.m., said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. Upon arrival in the Feiler Park/Hussars Terrace/Dittmerville neighborhood, a woman told police officers that she had killed her two children, Baker said. The woman was taken to police headquarters for questioning and the two children were taken to Memorial University Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. Police are still investigating the incident, Baker said. Forensics officers and detectives were still on scene about 2:30 p.m. No further information was immediately available.
