North Atlantic right whales are returning north after giving birth off the coast of Georgia. Researchers have tallied 14 baby right whales since December, making it a ho-hum calving season for the critically endangered animals. The long-term average is 20 calves per season. Despite the slightly disappointing nursery totals, there were some bright spots.
