The Savannah Ethics Committee voted 2-1 Friday to have a second hearing to hear evidence regarding a complaint against Alderman Tony Thomas. Debra Kujawa and Karen Thompson had alleged in the complaint that Thomas violated the section of the ethics code that prohibits conflicts of interest by operating a business, Renaissance Marketing, and his aldermanic office out of the same location on White Bluff Road. Speaking on behalf of Kujawa and Thompson, attorney Don Montgomery said Thomas has an alderman sign sitting above another sign for his marketing firm, which indicates he’s using the city’s name and his political influence to increase his business.
