Charlie Ladd, a longtime Fort Lauderdale real estate developer, leasing agent and contractor, recalls one of the biggest fears he harbored about Flagler Village more than two decades ago. “I used to cringe at the thought of some girl walking her poodle and getting mugged by drug dealers,” he said. “I used to drive through there and see shady characters on every block.” But these days, those thoughts are in the rearview mirror.
