In the age of Twitter and Facebook, many Super Bowl viewers will use the commercial breaks to go online and see what people are saying about the game. This year, advertisers want them to tweet about their favorite commercials as well.

As Super Bowl Sunday looms nearby, I am reminded of the frenzy surrounding sports and the main day. I am not a sports fan but my significant other is. This is probably a typical scenario in a lot of households where the husband loves and enjoys his sports and the wife is just a bystander. And, there is probably nothing more perfect than a beer and watching a sports game on TV, while the wife is busy preparing dinner. What the Big day doesn’t focus on is what the wife is doing so the husband and his friends could enjoy the game and festivities.

The average cost for a 30-second spot this year was $3.5 million, with some time slots costing as much as $4 million.

The biggest draw in television is going mobile. The Super Bowl will be streamed online and to phones for the first time, the NFL said Tuesday. NBC's broadcasts of wild card Saturday, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl will be available on the league's and network's websites and through Verizon's NFL Mobile app.
