Marvel Studio's "Iron Man 2" soared to the top of the domestic rankings with an estimated $52.4 million in boxoffice from its first day in release on Friday.

"Iron Man 2" rocketed into domestic multiplexes with an estimated $7.5 million from its 12:01 a.m. Friday performances.

Last week, we got the international poster for Iron Man 2 , and today MySpace has debuted this domestic poster for the sequel, hitting North American theaters on May 7. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery, Kate Mara, Clark Gregg and Olivia Munn.

Speaking with Britain's SFX magazine recently, Kevin Feige, the president of production at Marvel Studios, spilled some details on the upcoming Avengers flick, including hints at who will be protecting the planet from peril. Thanks to SuperHeroHype, who got their hands on the publication, we can tell you that Feige confirmed that it's going to be "it's three people, four including Hulk , five including Nick Fury - who you have seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time." This statement would seem to confirm a line-up that includes Iron Man as well as Captain America ...

The trailer for the summer 2010 sequel to "Iron Man" is out. "Iron Man 2" reunites Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark with Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. The film also adds Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke and swaps in Don Cheadle for Terrence Howard. Like the first it is directed by Jon Favreau.

The movie is out May 7.
