Jason Flemyng Joining X-Men: First Class

BFI's Movie-Con III is in full effect in London right now and ComingSoon.net's man abroad Ben Mortimer has learned that actor Jason Flemyng, last seen playing Calibos in Louis Letterier's Clash of the Titans and in a small role in Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass , will be reteaming with Vaughn for a role in X-Men: First Class . That role will be Azazel, who was described as a "teleporter" during Flemyng's presentation, but who is in fact none other than Nightcrawler's father!

 

Karl Urban is the New Judge Dredd

A few weeks back, there were murmurings out of Comic-Con that the new Judge Dredd had been cast and that it would be none other than New Zealand's own Karl Urban ("Bones" McCoy from Star Trek with upcoming comic movies Red and Priest ). Empire Online has gotten confirmation from the film's producers Andrew MacDonald and Allon Reich, who were asked about it during a Q 'n' A at the first Movie-Con, currently taking place in London.

Liam Neeson Won't Be Playing Spielberg's Lincoln

For many years, Liam Neeson was attached to star in Steven Spielberg's Abraham Lincoln biopic, which would reteam Neeson with the filmmaker who helped take him to an Oscar nomination for his role in Schindler's List . The casting seemed perfect because the resemblance is uncanny and Neeson is one of the most respected actors in the industry, but it now looks like the project will have to look for another star. Neeson told the site Digital Spy recently he's no longer attached to the project essentially because it's been taking too long since his name was first mentioned.
