A national gourmet foods distributor has bought a Denver-area organic foods company with plans to expand its reach.
Florida-based Innovative Food Holdings Inc. bought Golden Organics for $1.75 million. The deal is expected to close in the next few weeks, said Bill Bennett, CEO of Innovative Food. If you’ve ever dreamed of being a pilot or are an aviation lover, staying at the new Hotel Polaris, located at the North Gate of the U. S. Air Force Academy, could fulfill that wish.
The resort, scheduled to open this month, is part of a mixed-use development project that includes the Academy’s new 32,000-foot Hossmer Visitor Center, which is set to open in 2025.
“There has always been a vision to have a hotel built right outside of the Air Force Academy,” said Visit Colorado Springs President Doug Price at a sneak preview of the hotel. “The Air Force has three core values: integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do.
Maki Teshima’s “Botanical Stories” is a sculpture, technically, but it feels more like a three-dimensional painting. Visitors are invited to walk right inside of it.
Installed at the small project space known as Understudy in downtown Denver, the work is, on its surface, quite simple. It consists of a few dozen panels of organza fabric, dyed in different colors and suspended like a wispy cloud from the ceiling.
But the way that Maki structures the piece — as swoops and swishes of various hues layered over each other — is reminiscent of the way a painter applies different shades onto a canvas.
Dear Eric: Two years ago, a group of 11 women on my husband’s side, including his mother, sisters and aunts, went on a beach house girls’ trip. The group also included the daughters-in-law of his aunts. I was left out and wasn’t even told about this trip until after they came back.
My husband was angrier about it than I was, but I asked him not to say anything so as not to cause drama that would come back on me.
I accepted that his family didn’t like me when we were dating, so I wasn’t exactly surprised they would do something like this.
