MIAMI — As part of the dual preseason realities of not only preparing for the impending NBA season but also stocking the roster for the team’s G League affiliate, the Heat have made a minor roster move in waiving guard Caleb Daniels and signing summer-league center Warren Washington. As a returning-rights player, Daniels already had a pathway to the Heat affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce, where he played last season, with this brief Heat preseason stint a means of adding Exhibit 10 money (up to $78,000) to his G League salary. Daniels, who went undrafted in 2023 out of Villanova, played 16:36 off the bench in Tuesday night’s 111-108 exhibition loss in Charlotte, closing with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and a team-high nine rebounds. Washington, who went undrafted in June out of Texas Tech, now will be afforded such an Exhibit 10 bonus, as well, before also winding up with the Skyforce. Washington appeared in six summer-league games with the Heat in July, coached there by Dan Bisaccio, who takes over this season as Skyforce coach. Through various machinations, the Heat already have seeded the Skyforce with players such as Daniels, Washington, guard Bryson Warren and center Malik Williams.
