The best translation app, for both menu reading and basic phrases such as “Check, please” is Google Translate (103 languages; 53 more in offline mode; point-and-read camera translation in 38 languages; 93 in handwriting mode; two-way instant conversation mode in 32 languages). Scandinavians are about the only other people who dine at hours that we’d recognize.
