2 passengers killed in Southfield car crash, driver suspected of being drunk

Two women are dead after the car they were riding in crashed into a tree in Southfield early Tuesday morning.The driver, a 20-year-old male from Southfield, fled the scene and was arrested a short time later. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to Southfield police.Police say the vehicle was heading westbound on the Northwestern Service Drive at approximately 6:10 a.

 

2 men arraigned in armed robbery of Troy convenience store

Two men have been arraigned in connection with an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven at 3982 Crooks Road in Troy on June 30.Antonio Maurice Howard, 24, and Dejuan Jermain Hadden, 29, were both charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. They were arraigned July 6 in 52-4 District Court in Troy.

Downtown Rochester Movies in the Moonlight will kick off on July 14 with the showing of "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle."Movies in the Moonlight takes place in the parking lot at East Third Street and Water Street. Hit and run injures Pontiac man

Marijuana use by the victim is suspected as a possible factor in a hit and run accident that injured a Pontiac man Sunday night.According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the victim, age 37, was found lying in the roadway near Woodward Avenue and Huron Street shortly before 10:30 p.m.

 

Oakland County officials warn of IRS phone scam

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said he received a call on his cell phone from someone demanding money. Patterson is now asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity. The call was from someone claiming to be a Internal Revenue Service agent asking Patterson to clear up his phony federal tax debt or be arrested.

Kischnick reportedly plans to offer guilty plea in bribery case

Fired Troy City Manager Brian Kischnick reportedly plans to offer a guilty plea in a federal bribery case against him.That's according to a press release that the city of Troy issued late Monday, July 9, referencing a news report interview with his attorney, Anjali Prasad.The city administration has met with "an independent and experienced forensic auditor, and is working on a contract to present to the Troy City Council at the earliest opportunity," the release said.

 

State health department investigating cases of legionellosis; 24 cases confirmed statewide since July 1

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is working with local health departments to investigate cases of legionellosis. So far in 2018, there have been 135 confirmed cases of legionellosis reported in 33 counties, compared to 107 confirmed cases during the same timeframe last year. According to MDHHS, Oakland County has seen 16 confirmed counties in 2018.

 

Search continues for missing Highland man

It's been an agonizing and frustrating several days for family and friends of Kevin Graves, 28 of Highland, who went missing July 1 while at a music festival near the Muskegon area.A $10,000 reward is offered "to anyone who can prove to me that they've seen him and that he's OK," said Gary Graves, Kevin Graves' father.
