Raynham students celebrate, honor veterans

LaLiberte Elementary School students in Raynham celebrated their sixth annual Veteran’s Day tribute Wednesday. Students got up close and personal with former and current military members who visited the school.

 

Long Island Bridge fixes on hold as Quincy commission orders review

Quincy's conservation commission will order a third-party review of a proposal from Boston to make $14 million in repairs to the Long Island Bridge. The 62-year-old bridge connects Moon Island to Long Island, which is owned by Boston. Quincy, however, has the only land access to the bridge, so any renovations Boston makes to the structure must be approved by the conservation commission, which voted unanimously to order the study Wednesday night.

Rockland mourns veteran killed in car accident

Residents are mourning the loss of Brett Carnathan, a Rockland native and veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who was killed in a car accident in El Paso, Texas.

Plymouth grand jury indicts Abington man on child rape charges

An Abington man has been indicted by a Plymouth County grand jury on child rape charges for allegations he repeatedly raped and molested a young woman who was known to him.

 

South Shore resident receives Volunteer of the Year award

Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council named South Shore resident and author, John J. Galluzzo, the 2013 Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary’s Volunteer of the Year on Wednesday, Nov. 6. His efforts were recognized at the sanctuary’s advisory council meeting in Plymouth. Galluzzo has built support for the sanctuary for over a decade. His partnership with the sanctuary started in 2000, when he volunteered to develop a photographic archive of th Coast guard Station in Scitiuate.
