This is Mental Health Awareness Week in Vermilion County, a time that's now set aside each year to raise awareness about the importance of recognizing signs of mental-health problems and eliminating the stigma that surrounds them.

Springfield man gets 6 years for 2017 burglary at Champaign landscaping business

Randall S. Taylor, 35, pleaded guilty in January to burglary, admitting that on June 12, 2017, he took items from Naturescape, 2702 Hundman Drive.

URBANA — A Champaign County judge Monday sentenced a Springfield man to six years in prison for stealing equipment two years ago from a Champaign landscaping business.

Man who tried to kidnap ex-girlfriend facing long prison term

Sentencing July 8 for Thomas W. Krigbaum, who has been held in the county jail since March 29.

URBANA — A man who admitted he tried to kidnap a former girlfriend at knifepoint in west Champaign about two months ago faces up to 24 years in prison when he is sentenced later this summer.

 

Flash flood watch issued

Additional heavy rainfall is possible through tonight on ground that is nearly saturated in some places.

A flash flood watch is in effect for a portion of East Central Illinois through late Tuesday night.
The watch covers DeWitt, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, and Shelby counties.
