Dolphins’ Armstead will try to play in finale at Jets; McDaniel optimistic about Waddle returning

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl left tackle Terron Armstead, who has asked to come out of two of the past four games and missed a game in that span due to a right knee ailment, will try to play in this Sunday’s season finale at the New York Jets (4-12), according to coach Mike McDaniel.  Armstead, who has made the Pro Bowl in each of his two previous seasons with the Dolphins, only played 27 of 60 snaps in Sunday’s 20-3 win at the Cleveland Browns due to right knee issues. If Armstead doesn’t play, rookie Patrick Paul will get the start in what could be the Dolphins’ biggest game of the season. “He’s going to see what he can do and we’ll approach the week with the mindset of getting Patrick ready to start, but allowing Terron to see if he can get himself ready to play and we’ll be live for both scenarios,” McDaniel said. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who has missed the past two games with a knee injury, seems to have a good chance to play for the Dolphins (8-8). “He’s had a good week,” McDaniel said, adding the wet, rainy conditions during the Browns game could have aggravated Waddle’s knee injury.
