Comment on How CMOs are redefining their strategic impact

Insight into trends helps marketing executives pivot, adding value for the whole organization. Over three years ago, I took on the role of chief marketing officer (CMO) at onsemi to guide the company through its transformation and to rebuild the marketing team from the ground up. I quickly realized that the marketing department was functioning merely as a marketing communications team, lacking a strategic focus on creating a world-class brand identity and generating demand for business growth.

This year, for the first time, TIME will debut a ranking of the World’s Top GreenTech Companies, in partnership with Statista, a leading international provider of market and consumer data and rankings, alongside its second annual ranking of America’s Top GreenTech Companies. These lists will recognize the most innovative, impactful, and successful companies whose aim is to reduce human impact on the environment. Because many companies in this space are young, TIME and Statista are accepting applications as part of the research phase.

Everyone knows Denver for its outdoor lifestyle, proximity to the mountains, craft beer and 420-friendly vibes. But the city also has a vibrant coffee culture with independent staples like St. Mark’s Coffee House, Crema Coffee and Convivio Café capturing the essence of the scene. Beyond serving a good cup of coffee, these independent shops offer a sense of community – a place for remote workers, study sessions, open mics, poetry readings, food trucks, yoga flows. Recently, that appeal has also driven growth, not just for mega-chains like Starbucks and Dunkin’, but for a new generation of java giants like Dutch Bros, 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee, Scooter’s Coffee and The Human Bean, which are making moves in the Centennial State, alongside local chains such as Ziggi’s Coffee, Novo Coffee and Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii. A second Novo Coffee location has opened at Denver International Airport in 2024.

Folks coming to Winter Park Resort this ski season will be able to taste one of Denver’s most distinct restaurants without ever leaving the mountain. Tocabe, which specializes in Native American cuisine, has partnered with the resort to bring its fast-casual concept to the Outpost, an on-mountain eatery located at 10,700 feet in elevation at the top of the new Wild Spur Express lift.

As world leaders gather in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly, there’s a lot to get done, with just six years left to achieve the bold ambitions laid out for the world’s 2030 agenda. When world governments agreed to the 2030 plan back in 2015, a decade and a half seemed like plenty of time to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) designed to create a more prosperous, safe and fair global society.
