A liquor license application for a premium video gambling cafe at 273 N. Randall Road will go before the Lake in the Hills Village Board during its Committee of the Whole meeting Tuesday. A May’s Lounge representative presented a business plan to the board in September, and officials initially had mixed reactions to the gaming cafe. Trustee Stephen Harlfinger said that from a development standpoint the proposal requires a build-out, which would make the property more marketable if the business eventually leaves the space. Trustee Ray Bogdanowski said the board has looked at video gaming as a revenue generator for existing business, and although some proposals have paid off, he does not like the concept of gaming parlor-type businesses. Trustee Diane Murphy also voiced concerns regarding competition because of the proposal’s proximity to Stella’s Place, a video gambling cafe at 319 Randall Road.
