Healthcare for the unhoused is a mess. Akido Labs believes it can be part of the solution. One October afternoon on a graffiti-strewn stretch of downtown Los Angeles, Dr. Steven Hochman was checking up on his patients. A street medicine specialist who has spent the last year working with Akido Labs, a tech-focused healthcare group, Hochman makes weekly visits to this makeshift neighborhood of plywood encampments and busted-up campers.

Private sector jobs rose by 7,800 positions while governments added 1,200 jobs, bringing the total to 3.02 million payroll jobs in the state. Hiring last month was strongest in professional and business services at 2,800, leisure and hospitality at 2,500 and trade, transportation and utilities at 1,100.
