By Dave Cathey Food Editor dcathey@oklahoman.comThe Oklahoma Restaurant Association's annual convention and expo was last week, and the highlight of the two-day event was the Culinary Cook-Off where for the first time, a woman walked away Oklahoma's top chef. Chef Sarah Leavell, of the Bank of Oklahoma Center Arena and Cox Business Center, needed a razor-sharp performance to earn a razor-thin victory over chef Theron Jessop, of The Springs at The Artesian in Sulphur, for the title of Culinary Cook-Off champion for 2017. This year's competition ended with Leavell and her assistant, Kathryn Lundy, hoisting the trophy, but the real winners were the five lucky judges allowed to eat the foods the two chefs prepared. Eleven eager chefs competed for cash and bragging rights with the assistance of culinary students from around the state. Day one included four heats, each lasting 20 minutes.Read more on NewsOK.com
