OU Day of the Dead festival in Norman honors traditions

FROM STAFF REPORTSNORMAN — Old traditions were honored and new ones started at the Day of the Dead festival at the University of Oklahoma's Lloyd Noble Center. Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, was celebrated Sunday with folk dances, remembrance altars, salsa performances, sugar skull decorating, carnival rides and more. A performance by Grammy Award nominee El Dasa, one of Mexico's hottest pop stars, capped the event, which was sponsored by OU Student Life and the OU Hispanic American Student Association. Day of the Dead is celebrated in a big way in Mexico, Guatemala and Ecuador, with numerous variations observed in other countries, including Brazil, Haiti and Bolivia. Read more on NewsOK.com
