Lockheed Martin profits up on F-35 orders

Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin Corp. reported that its second-quarter profit rose 3.9 percent, and the company is raising its full-year forecast in part because of orders for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and added work on the C-130J transport plane. Lockheed had second-quarter net income of 2011 of $742 million, or $2.14 per diluted share, compared with $714 million, or $1.92 per diluted share, in the year-ago period.
