Concordia University in St. Paul names Ries president

The Rev. Tom Ries of Burnsville has been named president of Concordia University in St. Paul, the school announced Wednesday. Ries replaces The Rev. Robert Holst, who is retiring after 20 years as president of the university, which is affiliated with the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. When he takes over the position June 1, Ries will become the ninth president in the school’s 118-year history, Concordia said in a news release. Ries most recently served seven years as president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Foundation, where he grew its assists by nearly 200 percent, the private university...
