It’s never too early to start thinking about the postseason rotation, unless of course you’re the one in charge of talking to the media about your October plan. Chicago Cubs manager David Ross doesn’t have to name his three postseason starters for the Wild Card Series until they make it. And it would be crazy for Ross to do otherwise, with 23 games remaining and his team in the thick of both the National League Central race and the wild-card chase. The Cubs remained 2 1/2 games behind the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers after Tuesday’s wild 11-8 win over the San Francisco Giants, and were 3 games ahead of the Cincinnati Reds for the second wild-card spot. Seiya Suzuki’s game-tying, two-run home run in the seventh ignited the Cubs, and Christopher Morel’s three-run, 431-foot-shot to center capped a six-run inning. Suzuki wound up with 3 RBI and four of the Cubs’ 15 hits as they won their third straight and improved to a season-high 11 games over .500 before a crowd of 28,684.
