OUR OPINION: Leaders must collaborate to solve jail issue

More friction involving the proposed construction of a new jail in Lee County arose last week.
County leaders served the city of Tupelo on Friday with a two-year notice that they intend to terminate a 22-year old agreement under which the county has housed the city of Tupelo’s prisoners, as reported by Daily Journal local government reporter Caleb Bedillion.
And it wasn’t the first discord this year between city and county leaders about the possible jail.

 

Bulldogs wrap up spring football practices

Mississippi State held its final spring football practice on Tuesday and head coach Dan Mullen met with the media immediately afterward. Mullen revealed that junior wide receiver Malik Dear tore his ACL early on in spring and has already underwent surgery. He also recapped the spring and how he feels the Bulldogs will be moving forward at center.
