OUR OPINION: Strategies for attracting top teachers must continue

Education research is clear: The most impactful ingredient in improving outcomes for students is the quality of the teacher in the classroom.
So, as Mississippi works to fight its generational poverty, among its most important tools are great teachers.
The state already has many such educators, but it needs more. And it needs to attract its best and brightest young minds to become teachers.

New Ole Miss coordinators assess spring drills

New systems were installed on both sides of the ball for Ole Miss this spring.
There were varying degrees of success, and neither coordinator was ready to say the Rebels had “arrived” at the conclusion of drills.
Offensive coordinator Phil Longo saw some good things in his run game, which was the main point of emphasis for Hugh Freeze in making a change at that assistant coaching position.
Chemistry among quarterback Shea Patterson and the receivers was good, he said, but will get better with summer workouts.

Report: Wrist surgery sidelines Chad Kelly

OXFORD – Former Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly had surgery on his right wrist Monday and will be unable to throw for three months, according to a report this morning by USA Today.
The report also said that Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery and expects a full recovery.
Attempts to reach Kelly’s agent were not immediately successful.
Kelly attempted to throw for NFL scouts at pro day at Ole Miss on April 3. His workout was cut short when he experienced discomfort in his wrist.
