Bottle drive in Troy to benefit injured, ill owls

A bottle drive will be held Saturday, July 7, to raise money to build a permanent owl house for injured and ill owls at Stage Nature Center in Troy.Boy Scout Wyatt Lucas from Troop 1036 started raising funds to build the owl house early this spring.The nature center has recently taken in five owls that cannot be released into the wild due to prior injuries and illnesses.

Josephine Gehringer, widow of Tigers Hall of Famer, dies at age 100

Josephine S. Gehringer, of Beverly Hills, widow of Tigers Hall of Famer Charlie Gehringer, died Sunday, July 1, at age 100.Mrs. Gehringer was active at St. Regis Catholic Church in Bloomfield Hills. She was also a member of the Bloomfield Hills Country Club and active in many area charitable organizations.
