Boil water alert issued in Rochester Hills

Residents in northwest Rochester Hills and a small part of southwest Oakland Township are under a boil water alert, the city announced Monday morning. At about 7:30 a.m., the city of Rochester Hills posted the alert on its Facebook page, saying, "Effective immediately, a water boil alert for the area north of Tienken & west of Livernois.

 

Police arrest home invasion suspect in Farmington Hills

Police from a Metro Detroit crime-fighting task force arrested a home invasion suspect during the act of trying to enter a home on Saturday, July 7. The arrest was conducted by the South Oakland Narcotics Intelligence Consortium (SONIC), a team with detectives from West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills, and Novi, as well as the Western Wayne Criminal Response Team and the Farmington Hills Police Directed Patrol Unit.

 

Centria Healthcare of Novi hires chief marketing officer

Dave Spencer has joined Centria Healthcare in a newly created position as chief marketing officer. Centria Healthcare is a national provider of home-based health services. The company is currently based in Novi, and soon to relocate to Farmington Hills, according to a statement from Centria Healthcare.

 

Southfield-based Farbman Group adds staff

Misty Sirch and Gary Downey Jr. have joined Farbman Group, commercial real estate firm. Sirch was hired as director of property management, and Downey as portfolio property manager. Sirch has more than 10 years of management experience with a background in real estate and asset management.

Doug Kuiper has joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) as senior vice president of marketing and communications. Kuiper will lead MEDC's communication and marketing initiatives, including the state's Pure Michigan tourism campaign and PlanetM mobility campaign.

Troy police say motorist commits suicide during traffic stop

Troy police say a man killed himself early Sunday, July 8, as an officer stopped his car for suspected drunken driving on southbound I-75 near Wattles Road.The Troy Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the man fired one shot, killing himself, at about 3:15 a.

 

Historic White Lake-area family celebrates 90th family reunion

The Ogg family has been celebrating their family reunion each year in the White Lake/Waterford area since 1928.The number of people on George Washington Ogg's family tree, from children to great-great-great-great grandchildren, numbers at almost 700. Three-hundred of his living descendants from across the country are expected to attend this year's 90th family reunion Sunday, July 15 at Hess Hathaway Park.
