At first, it seemed like an Internet hoax. A doctor, over a glass of wine and a salad, coldly describes the extraction and monetization of fetal body parts. Surely this is some kind of sick parody.But it is not a hoax. It is Planned Parenthood's senior director of medical services, Deborah Nucatola, caught in a sting video by an antiabortion group.

 

Tortugas split doubleheader, series with Hammerheads

The Daytona Tortugas split a doubleheader and the four-game series at Jupiter, winning 2-0 and losing 6-0 to the Hammerheads, in the Florida State League on Saturday.In Game 1, Jackson Stephens (8-5) gave up seven hits, struck out five and walked one in five innings for the win. El'Hajj Muhammad struck out two in 1.1 innings for his 13th save.Phillip Ervin and Taylor Sparks had RBIs, while Sebastian Elizalde and Ronald Bueno had two hits apiece.In Game 2, Jarlin Garcia (3-5) held Daytona to three hits — two more by Bueno — for the win. Hamlin holds off Dillon in fiery finish to Xfinity race

LOUDON, N.H. — Denny Hamlin turned sideways into Kyle Busch and had Austin Dillon all bent out of shape. Hamlin roughed up the field and bruised some feelings, when he nudged Dillon out of the lead Saturday and raced to his second NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the season.Hamlin had the dominant car and led 145 of the 200 laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. But when Dillon briefly took the lead, Hamlin put his No. 20 into the left side of Dillon's car at Lap 179 and knocked him out of the way.

 

DC-7 Diner still grounded at New Smyrna Beach airport

In June 2012, Danny Perna had a 1957 DC-7 hauled on a tractor trailer from Miami to New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport with the goal of opening a restaurant inside the classic airliner.The effort to transport the plane, which included removing its wings, engine and tail, was even the subject of an episode of the popular A&E show "Shipping Wars." A little more than three years later, the aircraft sits mostly dormant in front of Epic Flight Academy that Perna operates.

OUR VIEW: County tax rate puts focus on spending

Government spending always should be closely scrutinized and justifiable. When higher taxes are involved, the burden of proof becomes even greater.Volusia County’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2015-16 includes the same tax rate that has been in place since 2013 — $6.32 per $1,000 of taxable value. Before congratulating council members for holding the line on taxes, consider that because property values have increased over the last year, property owners would pay larger tax bills next year under the same rate.
