Venture conference finalists picked

Five companies have been selected to compete during the Launch Stage of the 10th annual Bend Venture Conference on Oct. 18, organizers announced Wednesday.Investors have narrowed down the finalists from 37 companies over the past two months and made their final decision on the top five Tuesday night, said Ruth Lindley, marketing manager of Economic Development for Central Oregon.

 

3 arrested in fraud for meth

Bend Police arrested three people Tuesday as part of an investigation into the creation of fraudulent credit cards that were traded for methamphetamine.In a news release, police stated an investigation of Stevan Lyle Hemingway, 29, of Bend, began about a month ago.

Parish pastor leaves St. Francis

The parish pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bend has been removed from his leadership position. According to a release by Bishop Liam Cary, Father James Radloff is no longer the pastor of Bend’s Catholic church.

 

Capsugel acquires Bend Research

Capsugel, the New Jersey medication capsule maker, has completed its acquisition of Bend Research, Capsugel announced Tuesday.Bend Research, which helps companies develop new drug formulation and delivery products, has become part of Capsugel’s dosage forms solutions business, according to a news release.
